Northern Stage, a LORT D 240 seat regional theater in White River Junction, VT, seeks an experienced A2 to join the performance of Wonder! A Woman Keeps a Secret. Northern Stage produces a mainstage season, an education season, a New Works festival, and 4-6 other events year-round. This position reports directly to the Audio Technician to execute approved designs.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the daily operations within the Sound Department including installation and maintenance of all sound elements for this production.
  • Coordinate any necessary show-specific rentals, including their transportation.
  • Program and operate QLab and the audio console for run of production
  • Coordinate with the Audio Technician and Stage Management to provide rehearsal sound support as requested.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the amp room and sound storage spaces.
  • Support other production departments as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience in professional theatrical sound engineering. A combination of education and professional experience will be considered.
  • Ability to mix shows with up to 10 wireless microphones.
  • Proficiency programming sound in QLab and the ability to run a Yamaha CL5.
  • In depth knowledge of signal flow, RF coordination, wireless microphone prep/maintenance, and the use of both digital and analog consoles.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and execute designer drawings.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills. Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail. 
  • Thorough knowledge of theatrical safety conventions.
  • Knowledge of theatrical rigging standards and safety is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to approach challenges collaboratively.
  • Valid driver’s license. The ability to drive a box truck is a plus. 
  • Comfortable working at heights in excess of 20 feet in a lift and on a tension mesh grid.
  • Ability to safely lift 75 lbs.
  • BA or BFA in technical theater a plus.

Northern Stage, a LORT D 240 seat regional theater in White River Junction, VT, seeks an experienced Projection Programmer and Operator for their production of Peter & Wendy. Northern Stage produces a mainstage season, an education season, a New Works festival, and 4-6 other events year-round. This position will run the projections through the performance run and remedy projection notes throughout the tech process. This position will be supervised by the PM with additional supervision by the LE.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the set up and operation of the projections through tech and performance runs.
  • Assist with general projection notes and maintain paperwork throughout the tech and performance process.
  • Operation of Isadora projection software 

Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years or more experience operating projection equipment in a professional setting. A combination of education and professional experience will be considered.
  • Solid understanding of Isadora projection software including programming, operation, and troubleshooting. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, collaborative, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on ladders, in lifts, and at heights of up to 21’ on a tension mesh grid.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Northern Stage, a LORT D 240 seat regional theater in White River Junction, VT, seeks an experienced Assistant Lead Electrician to join the full-time staff. Northern Stage produces a mainstage season, an education season, a New Works festival, and 4-6 other events year-round. This position reports directly to the Lead Electrician and works closely with Lighting Designers, Projection Designers, and other production department heads to help coordinate all electrics-related activity necessary to execute programming.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Lead Electrician in the planning and execution of all lighting and video designs including hang, focus, maintenance, and strike. 
  • Function as the Lead Electrician for designated education productions and special events.
  • Help plan and execute onstage practicals, atmospherics, and special effects. 
  • Help to maintain lighting and video inventory and grid space, including but not limited to intelligent LED fixtures and cue lights. Perform equipment repairs as needed.
  • Program and operate an ETC Ion lighting console and RVI for productions. 
  • Run a followspot and/or be a Deck Electrician for designated productions. 
  • Attend scheduled production and staff meetings as a representative of the Electrics department when the Lead Electrician is not available. 
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the dimmer room and other storage spaces.
  • Provide support for events outside the mainstage and education seasons.
  • Support other production departments as needed.
  • Work with the Lead Electrician to plan and facilitate rentals, borrows, and loans.


 

Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience in professional theatrical lighting. A combination of education and professional experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of the ETC Ion, Lightwright, and Vectorworks. Isadora and AutoCAD experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of conventional dimming and lighting fixture operation and maintenance. 
  • Knowledge of basic rigging practices and intelligent LED fixtures preferred.
  • Experience with wiring and soldering especially as they relate to practicals and LED diodes/tape. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organization skills.
  • Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail. Experience managing and adhering to budgets. 
  • Thorough knowledge of theatrical safety conventions, OSHA regulations, and fire codes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to approach challenges collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools. Soldering experience is a plus.
